Hello my Peeps!
It’s been way too long since we last spoke. I just got back from Minneapolis, where I was working on recording music with some old friends to benefit Slim Dunlap. In case you don’t know, Slim took the place of my brother Bob in The Replacements and is a pal. He had a massive stroke last spring, and a lot of good people are going to be recording his songs to help offset his rehabilitation costs. We’ll share more information on this as soon as we can.
This week I’ll be heading over to Ed Herrington’s in Hudson, NY, where we’ll be receiving the last shipment of tools for the kids of Timkatec. If you’ll recall, we had a great benefit show for the Tools For Timkatec program at Club Helsinki last April and raised over $18,000 for the graduates. Herrington’s was nice enough to get most of these tools donated, so we are taking the money saved and donating it to Timkatec for food and basic necessities. We’ll be doing another online before Christmas with some great stuff, so stay tuned for that!
This Saturday I’ll be performing in NYC with Kris Perry’s Machines for the closing of the Industrial Evolution exhibition at the Family Business Gallery. If you haven’t checked this out yet, I highly suggest it, as there is nothing like it in the world!
I’m currently gearing up to spend the month of November in Las Vegas playing a few Guns N Roses shows every week, which should be a real blast. I’ve been working on new material lately and will have plenty of time while I’m out there to keep working.
But in the meantime, I produced a 7” at my Bipolar Bear Studio for a great band from here in Hudson called Pocatello. I love these gals – they’re a 3-piece group with an interesting combination of stringed instruments and harmonies, they sound like they’re straight out of 30’s, and I think you’ll all dig it. The record will be out soon on my label Done To Death Music. I’ll let everybody know when you can get it. In the meantime, watch this video to see what they’re all about:
I’ve also been helping out my friend Young Paris here in Hudson, whose family is very important to the community and they’re all full of talent. He just released a great album with his group Black n’ Gold and y’all should check that out as well…
Speaking of producing bands, I’m currently on the look for groups that are interested in working with me. If you’ve got your shit together and think I’d like your stuff, please send links to firstname.lastname@example.org .
See you soon…
